Godville: Best ZPG in the Web
Picturized quote from my hero's diary entry
Tired of grinding for experience, gold and gear? Worked up on all the NPC bossing you around? Why not be the God who gives the orders? Why not let others do your dirty, or holy, work? If you love games where all you do is watch, or read, your hero's/heroin's diary entry. Then Godville is the game for you.
As a college student with limited time to play the games I use to play, ZPGs or zero-player games are the perfect juice to quench my thirst for a fantasy world. Living in a world where Gods and heroes/heroins walk the land, Godville is a place that will never be boring. With its humorous events, parodic monsters, creative artifacts, and weird items, you will never be bored again.
It's simple and limited play style gives space to the most important, and primitive part of gaming, using your imagination. Make up your own story, your own background, your own style of ruling, your character's looks, your God's character, your God's looks, the options are limitless! And every fun aspect of the game is just limited by your own imagination.
Make a story of how your character became a hero, on how he met your God, on how he battled a monster, on how he kicked the booty of his/her nemesis, on how he/she obtained those epic gears, on how he wet his pants when he got drunk, on how he found his/her partner, on how he met his companion, on how his God saved his life, on how he pray to his God, and... you get my point.
And again the best part of the game is not always about the game play, it's the community, always the community. The people you talk to and the creator themselves and on how they interact with one another. The perfect balance between social integration and gaming can be seen in this game. The community is greatly embedded on the game play and at the same time the game play is not entirely governed by the number of friends you have, not like most games I know.
It is the perfect combination of gaming and creative writing, and for a young writer this is the best way to practice, I play and have fun while still learning about what i love. In addition, this game perfectly fits my new project which will be started this summer after I survive the semester.
If you want to play you can go directly to this link: Godville or if you are already playing please visit my God or even invite me: Deskernet and his hero, Galynith Agrigold, Knight of Deskern. Enjoy!
